A new study proves the oil encompasses antibacterial properties

The promise of healthy teeth with coconut oil…
Scientists found that the digested form of coconut oil inhibits the growth of Streptococcus bacteria which is the major cause for tooth decay. The oil attacked the bacteria directly, diminishing their presence in the mouth and as a result clean the teeth and prevent tooth decay simultaneously.Preventing tooth decay…
The oil is still undergoing testing and research, so it may be a while before the technology hits our shores. Until then, at Curtis Couch D.D.S in Thousand Oaks, we strongly suggest utilising the following techniques and adopting them into your daily oral health regime to ensure optimal results:- Brush the teeth at least twice daily. This keeps bacteria in the mouth down to a minimum and keeps plaque at bay. Be sure to brush at a 45 degree angle to make sure the teeth and gums are cleaned.
- Floss at least once daily, preferably before sleep. We produce less saliva while we sleep which creates a better environment for bacteria to multiply and accumulate in the mouth if not clean. It is important to remove any food particles stuck between teeth for this reason.
- Maintain constant check-ups with us in Thousand Oaks, so we can examine your condition, give your mouth a thorough clean and locate any issues while in their infancy.
