Dentist gives polar bear a root canal!

Usually the patient is scared of the dentist, in this case the dentist was scared of the patient!

Recently a team of dentists, dental nurses and vets had to utilize their skillsets to help relieve a 75-stone polar bear of tooth aches and pains! The team discovered, once the bear was under anesthesia, that the source of his pain was a broken back molar and he immediately required a root canal treatment! The root canal performed on the bear was the exact same procedure a human would experience, only the tooth was six time the normal size!

Take care of your teeth with Dr. Curtis Couch…

At Curtis Couch D.D.S in Thousand Oaks, we are committed to your oral health and wellbeing. We understand that poor oral hygiene can lead to oral conditions such as decay and periodontal disease, which is why we urge patients to visit our Thousand Oaks dental practice at the first instance of dental pain or tenderness.

Why is oral hygiene so important?

American adults over 35 lose more teeth to periodontal (gum) disease than from tooth decay or cavities! The best way to prevent periodontal disease is to maintain an optimal oral health routine by thoroughly brushing and flossing every day. However, sometimes even the best oral health routine can’t stop decay, which is why it is imperative you visit our Thousand Oaks dental practice every six months so we can diagnose and treat any oral issues in their infancy. For more information on our dental treatments or to book an appointment at our Thousand Oaks dental practice, please contact us.
